To provide the best quality while minimizing download sizes, it is sometimes necessary to optimize a high-resolution print ready PDF before uploading it to YUDU Publisher.

As a rough guide we aim for 500kb - 1.5mb per page, with the final value varying based on the number of images, vector graphics, etc.
If your PDF is in excess of the 1.5mb per page, you can optimize a PDF using Preflight in Adobe Acrobat.
To use Preflight in Adobe Acrobat, go to Tools > Print Production > Preflight.
Under PDF fixups there are various options to Flatten transparency and downsample your PDF file.
We advise selecting the highest resolution option first and working your way back down the resolutions to find the sweet spot. This will run the profile and save your PDF, after which you can check the size of your new PDF file.
Tip - You may wish to save backup copies of your files so that you can revert back to a previous version if you are not happy with the changes that you have made.
