One of the big advantages of digital publishing is the convenience of creating a readily available digital archive for your readers that requires zero physical maintenance or storage space. At YUDU, not only do we make it easy to create such an archive (see here for our article on enabling the Archive View) but we also give you the tools to search through your archive quickly.

To enable Archive Search, you will need to navigate to Settings > General and scroll down to the "Other Options" sub-heading. You will find the "Enable archive search" option here.
Please Note: Enabling this option will make both the content of this digital edition visible when using the Archive Search and also enable the Archive Search feature for this digital edition.
You can enable this feature on a per edition basis or as a global setting under Settings > Defaults at the publication group level. Doing the latter will automatically apply this feature whenever a new edition is created within the publication group.

Once the Archive Search feature has been enabled in your edition settings on YUDU Publisher, you can generate a new preview to apply the change to your digital edition.
How to Use the Archive Search Feature
To use the Archive Search feature, open one of your digital publications and type in a search term using the "Search edition" tool on the righthand side of the toolbar menu.
You will now see two tabs - "Document" and "Archive".
The search results that appear under the Document tab are the terms that appear in the current digital publication.
If you choose the Archive tab instead, you will see results for the search term across your entire digital archive - with the publication title, the page number where the search term is located, and a selection of the text with the key word(s) highlighted in green.

Please Note: The algorithm used to display the search results does not display the results in date order but is rather based on factors such as the frequency of the search term on the page and/or within the digital publications.
Now, if you click on one of the results under the Archive tab, you will be taken to the digital publication in question, directly to the page containing the search term. Click on the search result again and the word will be highlighted within the body of text on the page.
Happy searching!
