In order to protect your digital publication behind a login prompt, you'll want to have created a subscription group and added your subscribers.
After that, you can release a digital publication to the subscription group, which links the two together.
Once the above steps are complete, you need to ensure that you're enabling the actual login prompt. Without that, your digital publication will remain open access.
To enable the login prompt, go to your digital publication and navigate to Settings > Access Control:
You will be presented with the following screen and DRM options:
The various options and their functionality are outlined below:
- Subscription Required - tick this box to enable the login prompt, where subscribers need to enter a username and password to access to your digital publication.
- "Remember me" when offline - ticking this option will present an option on the login prompt so the end user can specify whether they would like to have their username and password remembered when offline access is required (therefore the publication will not need re-authenticating).
- Unprotected Pages - unprotected pages are pages that all users can see prior to the login prompt appearing and blocking further open access. For example, placing 5 unprotected pages at the start will allow five pages of your publication to be available for free/without login before navigating to the sixth page where the login prompt would appear.
Upon completing the above options, scroll to the bottom of the page and click submit to ensure that your changes are saved.
Be sure to generate a new preview link to active the login prompt and test the options you have selected (unprotected pages, subscribe button, etc).
