Summary
As a Client admin, you will login to your own Client area on the Redemption Code (Digital Editions) platform in order to manage the distribution and redemption of codes.
Select the Redemption Codes tab to see the redemption codes/licenses that have been allocated to you by your publisher.
Let us assume you are a college or training center providing eBook access to students.
As a Client admin, you cannot alter the redemption codes, their number of uses or expiration dates, but you can send out Invitations to your students (Non-Admins) and, once a student has accepted and validated their account, redeem the code for them.
In turn, your publisher (the licensor of the eBook titles) will be able to see how many "uses" remain for your redemption code(s) but they are unable to see who has redeemed it - the student information remains private and visible only to yourself, the Client admin.
In the Client interface, under the Users dropdown, there is the option to create additional (Client) Admins, Non-Admin users or send out Invitations to non-admin users (i.e. the students or individuals for whom you will be “redeeming” access).
Non-Admins are issued an email Invitation to register their account by the Client admin. This is done by going to Users > Invitations.
Once the email has been accepted, the Non-Admin (student) will need to create an account using the invited email address.
At that point, their registration will be displayed on the Client interface and the Client admin can proceed to redeem access on the Non-Admins behalf, thereby granting access to the eBook(s) associated with the selected redemption code.
This removes the risk of Non-Admins obtaining the redemption code and sharing it with other students, who could redeem it against your wishes.
For ease of administration, Non-Admins can also be assigned to Groups, e.g. “Year 1 Engineering”, “September Class 2B - 2026”.
Assigning eBooks / Redeeming Codes on Behalf of Non-Admins
- Login to the Redemption Code / Digital Editions platform using the URL provided by your publisher.
- Go to Users > Invitations and send an invitation to a student’s email address. A record of the invitation will be visible in the Invitations section.
-
The student will receive an email with a login and registration link. For new users, they will need to click the registration link and register for an account by entering their details and the email address that was used to invite them.
- Once registered, the student’s information will be removed from the Invitations section and they will now be visible under the Users > Non-Admins area.
- Click the name of the student (Non-Admin user) and then click the “Redeem Code” button.
- Choose the appropriate ebook code from the dropdown to assign the associated ebooks to the student/non-admin.
- Once assigned, the student can now login to access their eBooks within the Redemption Code platform or directly into the relevant eBook app(s) or Web-based eBooks. This is all done using the same login details with which they originally registered.
Creating Groups
For ease of management, you can also create Groups for your non-admins/students.
- Click on Groups and then the “New Group” button
- Enter the name of your group, as desired
- On the next screen, click the “Manage Members” button
- Use the arrows to move non-members (on the left) over to the right. This makes them a member of the new group.
