1) Which formats can you convert to?
Our creative team have experience of working with a number of book publishers. Most recently we have been extensively trained for developing iBooks Author titles for the iBookstore. These books are totally re-imaged for the screen and the software. The effects are stunning.
We can also convert illustrated content into the relevant formats for the iBookstore, Kobo, Google Play, Kindle Fire and the Nook.
2) Am I able to convert just one book to start with?
In our experience, it is more beneficial to publish a series of books in order to gain more momentum for your online sales. We can set up some samples for you so that you can try and work out which format works best for you.
3) What format shall I submit my files in?
Our preferred input file format is PDF – although other options are possible. For iBooks Author projects, we require the InDesign files, and other raw assets.
4) How long does the conversion process take?
iBooks Author projects normally take 6 – 8 weeks.
Standard reflowable and fixed-layout conversions take under a week. Complex conversion projects can take 2 – 3 weeks.
Adding animation to the page can take an extra 2 – 4 weeks, depending on the level of complexity.
5) How do you charge for conversions?
iBooks Author projects are charged on an hourly basis. One of our project managers will work with you on establishing a project plan and delivering a quote depending on the number of hours needed to develop the project.
For other formats, our standard pricing is a page rate. For bespoke animation we would quote per project.
6) Do you distribute the finished files to the different stores?
We can submit your files via our accounts for the Apple and Amazon stores. If you choose this option we will take 5% of any sales generated (after the standard 30% is taken by the store). In this case we would produce a monthly report, detailing revenues received and owed.
Most of our clients choose to set up their own accounts or use a third-party ebook distributor and monitor their own sales.
